Project: Dual-Family Retreat – Highland Gate Golf Estate

Location Context:
This elevated stand sits beside the 6th hole of the prestigious Highland Gate Golf Course, perched on a rocky outcrop with uninterrupted views of a mountain range that cascades into a dramatic gorge. The site is fully exposed to wind from all directions but also enjoys abundant sunlight—particularly beneficial during the cold winter months.

Design Approach:
The brief called for a flexible design capable of accommodating two families with children, as well as separate use by up to eight single golfers. To ensure comfort and privacy, the bedrooms were grouped in pairs, each sharing a bathroom, and accessed via a covered outdoor terrace that leads into a sheltered courtyard.

Design Methodology:
The dwelling is accessed from road level and designed as a single-storey structure that flows seamlessly from interior to exterior. An open-plan living area forms the central heart of the home, linking directly to expansive outdoor spaces. The bedroom zones are tucked away to allow occupants moments of solitude and retreat. The entire layout is designed for year-round usability, ensuring that indoor and outdoor living areas can be enjoyed regardless of weather conditions.
